ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Pat...

and I wish you a warm welcome. I am a husband, father, and owner of a printing business based in Berlin, Germany and have also moonlighted as a certified Wim Hof Method Instructor since 2016.

I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma IIIb, a cancer afflicting the lymph system and a mutation of white blood cells, the little warriors of our immune system. Depending on which source you read, it has an approximate 75% survival rate over 5 years, which I saw as pretty good. All I suggest is seek out what fits you, ask questions, and find support where you need it.

If you have found your way here, my guess is due to my connection with the Wim Hof Method, so my experiences during this process shall mainly revolve around this and similarly-related topics.

The content here provides you with the path that I chose, that helped me, nothing more, nothing less. I made good and bad decisions along the way, but learned to be patient and stay on the horse. When I was diagnosed, I found great mental relief to read other cancer-related blogs, which helped to take away the stigma and fear of what was coming, and helped me to unapolegetically choose my path, which would then include chemotherapy, Wim Hof Method, Buteyko, Placebo-related meditations based on Joe Dispenza, music, exercise, and setting a future goal among other things.

It is not my intention to over-portray myself too much, and I apologise in due course if you feel it at times comes across as such, but my main intention is to hopefully aid your own stigma and fear that is naturally generated by being being the receiver of a cancer diagnosis. It is an 'oh fuck' moment for sure, but there are options available to support you (some physical, some mental, some emotional).

I moderate the Facebook Group 'Wim Hof Method for Cancer Survivors and Support', a group geared towards people going through a similar journey that I went through. Experiences are shared, and questions of on a variety of topics are answered by the members in a very supportive atmosphere. If you yourself to be in a similar situation, and are interested in all things breathing and cold (and general support), you are warmly welcome to contact me or join the group.

I will be adding a link section containing further information including additional links to similar blogs, science articles and other topics of interest relevant to a cancer journey.
